Great class, 16 in class tonight with the return of a few of the GSW stalwarts. Good to see Nick and Jason back after a short layoff. Grappled all night with everyone working together really well and a lot of discussion and problem solving going on. It all felt really positive.
Goal setting was the point I tried to get across after the session. With everything you do in your life goal setting is an extremely important part of progress. Without goals we cannot measure accurately how far we have travelled or even know where we are headed.
The goal setting idea is perfectly suited to BJJ! Goals set in regards to your progress can give your game focus, give you something to strive for when it all seems too much and can also help guide you to the ultimate goal – Black Belt. From class to class, simple, small goals can help fine tune aspects of your game:
Eg: your guard. Simply setting small goals that focus only on your guard can help immensely with your entire game plan and improve your progress. With out goals what are you trying to achieve, and how will you know if you ever achieve it?
