You win some, you loose some.
This one I lost.
17 in the class, which is huge for a Monday! Everyone had a few quick rounds grappling then we ran through some sweeps and countering Standing passes.
In theory these were some pretty simple techniques but after a day from hell, I had a class from the swamp!! Here's what was covered.
-- Back Sweep. Partner stands their balance is tilting backwards.
-- Front sweep variation. We attempt a back sweep but our partner squats and grabs our lapel or head.
-- Counter to My favourite sweep. If your arm is free, simply swing it across partners face and post out again.
-- If your arm is not free, post up on the same foot to stop the roll.
-- The reverse of that is the Guard player gains control of the other arm and sweeps the opposite way.
See even the blog sounds like the class.....
Background is below in another post...

Opponent is in your guard, then stands up, and defends front/back sweep by squatting down. Your legs are open and hips dropped already from the back sweep attempt.
Opponent's hands are on your collar or around back of your head.
1. Claim Opponent's right arm to your chest with your left hand
2. Reach your right hand between Opponent's legs and around the back of his left foot
3. Using this anchor, scoot your butt further in between/under Opponent's legs
4. backwards shoulder roll over your left shoulder, pushing "kanga" with your legs (right hand isn't lifting Opponent's leg) and come up to mount. Roll is halfway between straight back and straight over sideways, i.e. to the corner where Opponent can't post bacause you have his arm.
"the Guard player gains control of the other arm and sweeps the opposite way."
Opponent is in your closed guard.
Start to set up the "leg grab rollover sweep" (actually isn't really "leg grab" any more since if you grabbed the leg with your right hand the Opponent would move his right hand back over your head and post like the earlier move):
1. get a cross grip with your right hand on Opponent's right cuff (or can grab with both hands)
2. open your legs, hip out to left (i.e. onto right hip) and pull Opponent's right hand across to your right side. Maintain the grip with your right hand (and don't let your right hand end up _under_ his right hand 'cos it makes the later move harder)
3. sit up, grab Opponent's left lat with your left hand. Now Opponent senses the sweep to his right coming so posts with his right leg.
Now get the sweep in the other direction:
4. with your right hand, let go of Opponent's right hand, and pass it over his right arm (stops him bringing it back over your head), under his left arm and back behind your head. This captures his left arm and takes away the post
5. With your left hand, release lat and grab his right leg at the ankle.
6. Now cut with your left leg and sweep Opponent to your right, coming up to mount. Don't let his left arm go until you get mount.
